    1st Annual Kalamazoo Public Library LEGO Building Contest

    Enter your original LEGO creations in the KPL LEGO Building Contest. Open to all by age bracket: 0-5 years, 6-10, 11-14, 15-18, 19+. Entries accepted August 13-18 in the Central or Oshtemo Children’s Room. LEGO creations will be displayed August 20-25. Judges will include library staff and community leaders. Winners will be announced on KPL's website Monday, August 27, 10 am.

    Contest Guidelines

    • Submissions Accepted: August 13-18 during open hours at Central and Oshtemo Locations
    • Public Viewing and Voting: August 20-25 at Central Library
    • Winners will be announced at www.kpl.gov on Monday, August 27 at 10 am.

    Age brackets:

    • 0-5 years
    • 6-10 years
    • 11-14 years
    • 15-18 years
    • 19+

    Prizes:

    • 1st Place: $50 gift certificate for Target and a LEGO building book
    • 2nd Place: $25 gift certificate for Target 
    • 3rd Place: $15 gift certificate for Target 
    • People’s Choice: LEGO building book

    Official Rules:

    1. All creations must use your own LEGO, DUPLO or MEGABLOCKS bricks.
    2. Entries must fit within a 12 x 12 inch space and be no taller than 2 ft.
    3. All entries must be completely original creations. No designs from LEGO, websites, books, etc. will be accepted.
    4. Team entries are permitted. Teams entries will be judged in the category of the oldest participant.
    5. Completed projects must be delivered to the Children’s Desk at Central Library or Oshtemo Branch Library during open hours August 13-18, 2012.
    6. An entry form must be submitted with each original LEGO creation. Forms may be obtained at the Children’s Desk at Central Library and Oshtemo Branch Library.
    7. Public viewing and judging will be conducted during the week of August 20-25, 2012.
    8. Winners will be announced via KPL’s website on Monday, August 27 at 10 am.
    9. Entries may be picked up Monday, August 27, between noon and 9 pm.

    Please note: Every effort will be made to return all bricks to their original owner. Projects will be on public display at the library for one week.
