Anyone who loves the Great Lakes region or good photography (or both) will want to take a look at LAKE MICHIGAN : A PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTFOLIO. Housed in both the Local History Room and in the general circulating collection is this stunning compilation of photographs that Ed Wargin took on the Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan shores of the lake. As indicated on the cover, the book is a journey that takes the reader through "ancient forests, rustic limestone bluffs, windswept sand dunes, endless miles of lazy beaches, dancing beach grasses, and through the rivers and streams that cut the shoreline." Looking at this book is not as good as being there, but it comes close.
