Cynthia Addison is currently serving her second term as a trustee. She earned her bachelors degree in Biology at the University of Michigan then completed her masters in Science Education at Western Michigan University. Now retired from the Kalamazoo Public Schools, she taught science at Hillside Junior High, Loy Norrix High School, and the Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center. She first ran for election in 2003 as a write-in candidate. Her sister was elected to the Portage District Library board the same year. She stood for reelection as she grew to realize what an honor it is to be associated with such a fine institution as the Kalamazoo Public Library.
She believes her job as a trustee is to support the director and continue to make it possible for her and the library staff to do an excellent job serving the public.
