Downloading an eBook to a Kindle Fire
Important Note:
You will need access to a wireless connection as the transfer of eBooks will not work using 3G. Be sure that your Kindle Fire is registered with Amazon and that you have a current Amazon account (username and password)
Using your Kindle Fire’s web browser, go to
www.kpl.gov
Under the
Popular
links, tap
eBooks
Tap
Search eBooks
. You will be taken to the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services/Overdrive catalog
Tap
Sign-In
and then enter
Kalamazoo Public Library
and then your
library card account number
Once you’ve located a book of interest and made sure that it is available, tap on the book cover. You will find important format information as well as the place
Hold
feature if the book is currently checked out
To checkout, tap the
Borrow
button
Tap the
Go to bookshelf
button
Tap the
Get for Kindle
button
Make sure to select the correct format (Kindle) and tap the
Confirm
button
You will be transferred to Amazon.com’s site. Log in to your account if you have not done so
Look for the
Deliver to
menu, select your Kindle Fire and click
Get Library Book
Tap
Download Now
On your Kindle Fire, tap on
Books
(if you don’t see the book continue with the instructions below)
On your Kindle Fire, click the
Settings
icon in the upper right corner of the screen, then click
Sync
Tap the book cover to open the book and begin reading
Go to the
Manage Your Kindle
section of Amazon’s web site to return books early and delete them from your Kindle library. Use the
Actions
menu
Note:
If you are attempting to download an eBook that is published by
Penguin Books
, you will need to have a computer and a USB cable for the transfer of the book from your computer to your Kindle Fire.
