An eReader Experience

Earlier this spring, I read my first complete book, actually two, on one of our Sony eReaders. I’d only read excerpts previously to try it out.

My husband and I took a driving vacation. Usually I’d take five or six books along; this time I took 30+, all on the eReader and it wasn’t full.

I admit it took me a little while to get used to it – the screen, the page turning, the side light when needed, BUT it sure was convenient.

I read Little Bee, such a compelling novel that I would have kept reading no matter what the format, and a short story collection, Where the God of Love Hangs Out.

I’m not a total convert to eReaders; I still like the traditional printed book but it’s a format that has its place and it sure was easy to take an eReader rather than a stack of books on vacation.

We have several to loan; come visit and give on a try.

Glad to see another convert :P Yes, there are still lots of things to love about paper books (the feel, the imperfections, one of a kind-ness), but eReaders are definitely a convenience that we can all use in our busy lives. My favorite part is having to carry just one device, but having up to hundreds of books at a time. It's also nice that you can browse the internet on many of these devices including the Kindle and the Nook. Now that you can actually check out books from the library with Adobe Digital Editions, it's even more of a reason to have one. Prices just dropped recently so one can be had for close to $99.

What a great thing these Electronic readers are.. I like the Kindle.. its got such a soft look screen and easy to use. Now there are so many e books to download, i will never get bored on vacation.. I actually wouldnt be surprised if they impact on Library's as time goes by, or maybe Library's will make books available by Bluetooth download or similar, and they expire after a certain time.. maybe Rent A Book ?? who knows where it could go.. Upon the arrival of the iPad, I was sure it would drive all other ereaders into extinction, however, I found that many people prefer Sony's Ereader, even Amazon's Kindle to the iPad when it comes to reading books. Maybe the iPad will be improved, so that it too will have that "e-ink" experience, I don't know; but for now, many ereader fans are hard if not impossible to convert to the iPad. For them it’s either the ereader or a real paper book; anything other than an iPad.

I just got an Amazon Kindle with WiFi that I am in love with since I am a big reader. I also like that I can read it while laying out in the sun. I love my e-reader and can't live without. I guess an iPad would also work except that it is not as good as the Kindle in bright sunlight.

For me, I very love the Kindle and Say thank you to God every day that he give the kindle to me. I can safe a lot for some books those free on e-book version. and I don't to heavy carry the books when I travel anymore.
