“A Historical Timeline of Michilimackinac.”
Author Madeline Okerman Adie presents “A Historical Timeline of Michilimackinac” at Oshtemo Branch Library, Monday, September 26, 6 pm.
On a family vacation, at the age of 10, Madeline Okerman Adie first visited Mackinaw City when she crossed the Mackinac Bridge shortly after it was opened for public transportation. In total awe of the history and scenery, Adie, a human resources consultant who also loves Michigan history, returns to the city at every available opportunity.
A postcard collector and dealer for more than a decade, Madeline’s love for history and a growing collection of postcards led her to create
, part of the Postcard History Series from Arcadia Publishing.
“Even though I loved the Upper Peninsula, I was even more intrigued with ‘the bridge city at the tip of the mitt.’ I loved to hear the history of early explorers, voyagers, fur trappers, missionaries, as well as the incredible Native American history of the Ojibwa (Chippewa), Ottawa (Odawa), and Huron peoples.”
Hosted by the Southwest Michigan Postcard Club.
