What a wonderful day Super Saturday was. The Sidewalk Book Sale was a big success. We sold thousands of books for 10¢ each. The really savvy shoppers who bought (or brought) a bag paid only $2.00 and usually paid even less than 10¢ a piece for their books. It's astonishing to think of selling books at that price and still making over $1000 for the library. Thank you to everyone that came to the sale. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
In addition to our books "in the spotlight" this week (listed below) there are a couple of especially nice sets of books I'd like to tell you about. First, we have a complete set of the Harvard Classics in very good condition. This beautiful set of books is priced at only $50.00. Please believe me this is a wonderful deal.
The Harvard Classics a 51 volume collection of classic works from world literature. It was compiled and edited by Harvard University President Charles W. Eliot and published in 1909. Dr. Eliot believed that one could acquire a liberal arts education by spending 15 minutes a day reading from a collection of books that could fit on a five foot shelf. The Harvard Classics are the books selected by Dr. Eliot.
The second set of books I'd like to tell you about is the Time-Life series on World War II. This is one of the most popular sets of Time-Life books. According to Time-Life each volume "chronicles in full the events of the second world war." The set is filled with illustrations and maps. We have 37 of the 39 volumes; priced at only $37.00.
In the spotlight this week: Hobbies and How To, select Young Adult Fiction (2 for $1.00), and Sports.
