An excellent way to start finding them is to browse through Cyndi’s List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet, which organizes the links into categories. Two useful printed guides to on-line sources are Virtual Roots 2.0: a Guide to Genealogy and Local History on the World Wide Web, by Thomas Jay Kemp, 2003, and The Online Genealogy Handbook, by Brad Schepp, 2008.
