Attention SCRABBLE® players! Here’s your chance to show off your SCRABBLE® prowess or play just for fun with other enthusiasts. Kalamazoo Literacy Council is hosting the 1st Annual SCRABBLE® Fest on Saturday, April 16, 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Portage Northern High School. All levels of players are welcome but you must be at least 16 years of age. Register for either “Competitive” or “Just for Fun” games and play all afternoon for a fee of $25.
Join us for word-making fun and great prizes! All event proceeds will support adult literacy education in Kalamazoo County. Contact Andrea Enyedi, Ready to Read Program Coordinator for more information.
There are so many wonderfully fun stories about monsters that we had to have a singalong storytime all about them. We read Go Away Big Green Monster, Thelonius Monster's Sky-High Fly Pie, and considered the merits of The Monster at the End of this Book along with When a Monster is Born. Our very special guest was Mr. Steve who brought along Honey the Bear to sing along with Octy and all of us. Then we had a monster parade over to the craft tables and made big green monsters. Join us for our next Singalong Storytime on May 17 where we'll have more music games and singalong songs along with favorite stories, puppets, a special guest, and a craft.
Stories, songs, puppets, movement, musical instruments, a special guest, and a special craft - it's Singalong Storytime! I hope you'll join us as we celebrate almost spring time with fun stories and a special craft about monsters (the fun kind, not the scary kind). This month's special guest is... a surprise! You'll have to come to find out who it is. We'll ask our special guest to sing along with us and Octy the Octopus who, as you know, speaks with musical notes, not with words as you and I do.
Join us for a fun almost-springtime evening of fun at the library!
Building with LEGO blocks sure is fun. So what could better for LEGO fans than getting together with like-minded people to build build build? Beginning this Tuesday, March 8, KPL offers its first ever after-school LEGO program at the Central Library. Like the continuing monthly Saturday morning program at the Central Library, the age range is for children from 5 to 10 years old. Register for after school LEGO at the Library and the Saturday morning LEGO at the Library program via the KPL website. Hurry, though, because space is limited. In April, we'll offer yet another LEGO program: LEGO at the Library 7 and Up. The program will be at the Oshtemo Branch Library and registration for that program begins Thursday, March 10th.
