Observe National Historic Preservation Month, May, with a celebration of the historic Stuart Neighborhood.

May 1, 7 pm, Central Library

Stuart Neighborhood History 

For almost 150 years, families have called the Stuart Neighborhood home. Dr. Sharon Carlson, historian and neighborhood resident, will share her extensive knowledge of its history and founding families.

May 8, 7 pm, Central Library

Stuart Neighborhood Architecture 

Lynn Houghton, co-author of Kalamazoo: Lost and Found will offer an opportunity to examine more closely the variety of architectural styles that are found in the Stuart Historic District.

May 22, 7 pm, Central Library

Arcadia Creek Project

Located along the eastern side of the Stuart neighborhood, Arcadia Creek was the center of a major development project over twenty years ago. Lynn Houghton will present an examination of its history and the project itself.
