Constructed in 1949, McCracken Hall was designed to house the paper science studies and chemistry facilities and was dedicated to William McCracken, a well-known faculty member.

McCracken Hall is no longer used for academic classes, but continues to house the paper science studies' Paper Pilot Program which is located on the lower level.
