Kalamazoo: Then and Now


Kalamazoo Asylum for the Insane - Male Department, c1885

 

Construction of the Male Department of the Kalamazoo Asylum for the Insane was completed in 1874. It was located immediately south of the administration building.

Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital - Administration Building, 2010

 

Pictured is the southern wall of the Kalamazoo Pyschiatric Hospital's main building as it appears today. The Male Department occupied the area immediately south of this building and was torn down in 1975.
