Western Michigan University, East Hall, Rear, c1970
East Hall, constructed in 1903 on Prospect Hill, served as the first building for Western State Normal School. With the construction of WMU's West Campus in the 1940s, East Hall and the buildings adjacent to it were allowed to deteriorate.

Presently, East Hall houses the Southwest Michigan Regional Archives. The Friends of Historic East Campus have lobbied for the adaptive reuse of East Hall and the other historic buildings on East Campus.
