Kalamazoo: Then and Now


 Mountain Home Cemetery, Kalamazoo, c.1890

 

Pictured here is the family plot of G.T. Clark as it appeared in 1890. By this time, the cemetery had been open for forty years and was operated privately.  had attracted many well-known families who installed numerous attractive and elaborate headstones.

 Mountain Home Cemetery, 2011

 

More than 120 years later, Mountain Home Cemetery is still in operation, although now owned by the City of Kalamazoo. Located atop West Main Hill, it is open to the public and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape.
