From 1895 through 1945 the Kalamazoo Public Library saved correspondence from prominent individuals. Many of these letters are handwritten and all are signed. Some were responses to requests the Library made to authors for bookplates or presentations. Others were appeals for purchases or donations for organizations represented by these individuals. Kalamazoo Valley Museum acquired the collection when the Library and the Museum were part of the same institution (see The Kalamazoo Public Library History). The Museum returned the letters to KPL in 2009. This gallery contains a sampling of that collection.
