    Reduce the Fear of Falling

Many older adults experience a fear of falling. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. This 8-week workshop is a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults.

The program is designed to benefit older adults who have sustained a fall in the past; restrict activities because of concerns about falling; are interested in improving flexibility, balance and strength; or are age 60 or older, ambulatory and able to problem-solve. Participants will learn how to view falls and fear of falling as controllable; set realistic goals for increasing activity; change their environment to reduce fall risk factors; and exercise to increase strength and balance.

    Refreshments provided.

Presented by Kalamazoo County Area Agency on Aging Region IIIA.

Registration is required; to register for the entire 8-week workshop, call 269-553-7992
