We all love sampling new brews and learning how they are made, but have you ever wondered how they get packaged? Come out to Boatyard Brewing to watch a live demonstration by Michigan Mobile Canning! Their name says it all: they’re a mobile canning line that goes from brewery to brewery to help them can their beer! Watch the empty cans get loaded, filled, sealed, and boxed up. Please register.
Michigan Mobile Canning
Using a state-of-the-art MC250 from Wild Goose Engineering in Colorado, MMC arrives at the brewer’s facility, unloads the equipment, and transports everything inside to begin set-up. Fitting in a variety of spaces, from over the trench drain right in fermenter row, to a space cleared out after moving a few pallets of grain, MMC strives to make the process work for everyone. Once canning has completed, the brewery has all their space right back, aside from a bunch of cases of freshly canned product ready to be enjoyed!
Andrew McLean, owner of Michigan Mobile Canning, who operates the business with Traverse City native Scott Richards, began his business in June 2013 after becoming an affiliate of Mobile Canning Systems of Colorado, the first company McLean is aware of that offered mobile canning for craft beer in the U.S.
The business, has worked with breweries in Michigan and Indiana, including the Saugatuck Brewing Co., Right Brain Brewery of Traverse City and the Wolverine State Brewing Co. of Ann Arbor.
