February 13, 2001 is the date that Kalamazoo Public Library began to pay me for the time I spent within its walls. Prior to that date I spent my time perusing the library shelves for a myriad of subjects and becoming involved with the Young Adult Advisory Group; since then the name has changed to Teen Advisory Board. I have always enjoyed everything the library has to offer, which is probably why I have worked several different jobs in several different departments. Currently I work as the Ready to Read program assistant and I’m also the weekend custodian. People often ask me if it’s tough working the two different jobs or working seven days a week; I strive to provide excellent customer service so what better way than caring for both the people and the building.

In my free time I like to float with the wind; I always look for a new challenge, anything I’ve never done before. This holds especially true with my art projects, which I frequently have four or five going on at once. I also really enjoy the Rave Cinema in downtown Kalamazoo. My favorite movies, or books for that matter, are in the science fiction genre.

"There's no real objection to escapism, in the right places... We all want to escape occasionally. But science fiction is often very far from escapism; in fact you might say that science fiction is escape into reality... It's a fiction which does concern itself with real issues: the origin of man; our future. In fact I can't think of any form of literature which is more concerned with real issues, reality." - Arthur C Clarke
