My love for libraries developed during the many trips my family took to KPL while I was a child. It’s a great honor to be able to work for the very library that fostered my love of reading throughout my childhood. This is a particularly exciting time for me due to my recent completion of my MLIS from Wayne State University. Though I am fresh out of library school, I have had eight years of experience at KPL. I began as a shelver in the Children’s Room, worked as an intern for the government documents depository, and honed my reference skills in the Law Library. I’m thrilled to begin my professional career as the Electronic Resources Librarian here at KPL. My job involves maintaining databases, selecting magazines for our collection, and working with the public on the reference desk. I co-chair KPL’s Diversity Committee, a committee that is devoted to exploring diversity and multiculturalism in libraries. By far the best part of my job is hearing about what people are reading!
I like to spend my free time with my beagles, Lola and Betty, and my cat Easter. Now that I’ve finished my graduate degree, I’m looking forward to attacking the large list of books I want to read that’s piled up during my studies. I’m also teaching myself to cook and garden.
