Kathy Ruddick

When I first came to work at KPL, as a student assistant at the old East Branch, it was 1968 and I was a student at WMU. In 1969, I left Kalamazoo and returned to my hometown of Pittsburgh, and ended up working for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Bookmobile Department. That turned out to be a short escape. In 1970, I returned to Kalamazoo and school and was lucky enough to come back to the library as the county bookmobile clerk. Eight years later I became the county bookmobile librarian/driver. Those days on the county bookmobile were great. But the county bookmobile got old and the service ended and I then moved on to work in the Children's Room and the branches and finally to reference in 1989. Reference is great too. Every day is a learning experience.

Now I'm responsible for the newspapers and magazines in the reference area and manage our online databases and web sites in the Topic Guides. I also select books in the computersportsgames and motion pictures areas. You'll find me at the reference desk most evenings.

I enjoy reading, dancing, traveling in my car and just having fun with family and friends. I have three "adult" children and two grandsons that keep me busy. I'm looking forward to my next book from Book My Favorites.
