Carol Schreiner loves the short two-block walk to the Central Library from her downtown residence. Using the library is a habit she developed as a child growing up in Detroit. “Some of my fondest memories are of going to the library with my Dad,” Carol says.
Today’s library, though, is a far different place with technology enabled tools that her father’s generation couldn’t have imagined. “I often use the website to reserve books that look interesting,” Carol says. “Recently, while visiting my daughter in Paris, I was browsing the New York Times best seller list online. I found the latest John Grisham book about the West Virginia Supreme Court, The Appeal. It looked so interesting that I went to the KPL website and reserved the book. It was waiting for me when I got home.”
