Parking Lot Construction: As part of our ongoing work to maintain and improve Central Library, the parking lot will be closed for construction from Tuesday, July 28, to Saturday, August 1. Visit the Central Library page for more details. 

CLOSURE: Central Library will be closed Tuesday, July 21, through Saturday, July 25, while emergency repairs are made to the building’s cooling system. We expect to reopen Monday, July 27.

Join us for our 48th Annual Youth Literature Seminar—where strong readers build strong communities.

Everywhere you look, someone is working to build a strong community. Learn about building readers in your community in this day-long seminar geared towards educators, students, and anyone with an interest in youth literature. We are so excited to hear from award-winning authors and illustrators: Loren Long, G.(Greg) Neri, Lisa Wheeler, and Emmy Kastner. The day will include author/illustrator keynotes and multiple breakout sessions.

The Youth Literature Seminar is a long-standing tradition at Kalamazoo Public Library. The seminar is named after Kalamazoo Children’s Librarian Mary Calletto Rife. Mary created a legacy of sharing books with children, and we are honored to celebrate her work every November by bringing award-winning authors to Kalamazoo.
